Abstract

The advancement of technology has indeed led to numerous innovations and new forms of creativity that simplify various tasks and activities in today’s era. The rapid development of the internet has also made it easier for many parties to misuse it for online gambling. This study aims to examine the influence of self-control and peer conformity on online gambling behavior in early adulthood. This research adopts a quantitative approach with a correlational design, using a non-probability sampling technique through accidental sampling, involving a total of 146 participants. Data were collected using psychological scales measuring self-control, peer conformity, and online gambling behavior. The data analysis technique employed was multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that self-control has a significant positive relationship with online gambling behavior (r = 0.176, p < 0.05), sensation-seeking has a significant negative relationship with impulsive buying (r = 0.065, p < 0.05), and self-control and peer conformity significantly influence online gambling behavior, with R² = 0.065 or 6,5%.
