Abstract

The leadership role of the principal in the school organization is very important for increasing teacher competence and performance. This research aims to analyze the strategies used by school principals in improving professional competence and teacher performance through a transformational leadership style at Ar Riyadh Model Middle School, Bekasi City. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews with school principals, teachers and students. Data was also collected through direct observation in the school environment and analysis of related documents. The results of the research show that the strategy used by the principal at the Ar Riyadh Model Middle School in Bekasi City to improve professional competence and teacher performance is through a transformational leadership style. Strategic steps to facilitate and support the use of digital technology in the learning process. This includes a. Idealized Influencer (ideal influence) b. Intellectual Stimulation (intellectual stimulation) c. Individual Consideration d. Inspirational Motivation (Inspirational Motivation). Based on the research results, the principal as a leader in an educational institution needs to have certain strategies to improve the professional competence and performance of educators and education staff in their work environment, as did the principal at the Ar Ryadh Insan Cendikia Model Middle School, Bekasi City. Several strategies implemented to improve teacher performance include: (a) Teacher Work Evaluation, (b) Providing Appreciation and Rewards, (c) Teacher Supervision, (d) Daily Worksheet Program and Implementation Report Book and (e) Coaching and supervision which includes training and training activities, workshops, mentoring and coaching, Subject Teacher Conferences. Some of the increasing impacts of the principal's transformational leadership strategy on professional competence and teacher performance include: (a) Increasing teacher motivation and job satisfaction, (b) improving the quality of learning, (c) Improving the climate of teacher collaboration and (d) Increasing student achievement.
