Abstract

This study aims to find out how important it is for a Muslim to seek knowledge, not only religious knowledge but also knowledge related to the afterlife. To achieve true faith, as a Muslim, of course, one must have sufficient knowledge, because a person will not be a believer if he does not have perfect religious knowledge. And Allah SWT will elevate the status of those who believe and those who are knowledgeable, as emphasized in the letter Al-Mujadalah verse 11 which is the benchmark for Buya Hamka's thinking in the Al-Azhar interpretation, Buya Hamka's study of the letter Al-Mujadalah verse 11 is very closely related to the Indonesian National Education Process in the future. Buya Hamka emphasized that the future generation of Muslims should not only be fixated on the monotonous education pattern of the past in taking care of religious affairs, but more than that, far into the future a more advanced education pattern follows the development of the times, but still pays attention to moral ethics in society and the state, which does not conflict with Islamic teachings, of course the Qur'an and Al Hadith. This study uses a qualitative approach, namely a research procedure that produces descriptive data in the form of writing and observed subjects. The ultimate goal is to provide a predicate to the variables studied according to the actual conditions, so the research method in this study is to use the library research method. The results of this study are that Buya Hamka's thoughts in the letter Al-Mujadalah verse 11 about seeking knowledge in the interpretation of Al-Azhar and its relevance to the goals of national education are very relevant and connected. Because reflecting on the current situation, the challenges of the world of education are increasingly complex in accordance with the development of the times. For example, children are becoming lazy to study, people are increasingly lazy to come to the assembly of knowledge, morals or ethics are weakening as explained in this study.
