Abstract

Residential security is one of the important aspects in creating a safe and comfortable environment for its residents. This research aims to design and build an Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart gate prototype that can improve residential security. This system uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, infrared sensors, and servo motors to identify authorized users and automatically detect the presence of objects or vehicles. RFID serves as the main authentication system to ensure that only registered users can access certain areas, while the infrared sensor detects the presence of vehicles or obstacles around the gate. Servo motors are used to control the movement of the gate automatically based on the data received from the sensors. The system is integrated with an IoT platform to enable remote monitoring and control via mobile devices. Test results show that the prototype is capable of operating with high accuracy in detecting and authenticating users Detection time varies, ranging from 6.58 seconds to 9.97 seconds, and gets an average value of 7.15 seconds and provides a fast response to commands.
