Abstract

Childfree is a person's decision not to have children. This has become a new value for Indonesian society. This research seeks to examine the perception and decision making of childfree (living without children) among employees of PT Jeja Bangun Sinergi. This research uses a descriptive analysis method with a mixed method approach through an approach that includes the theory of phenomena by looking at the childfree choice as a developing social phenomenon, concept childfree regarding the reasons and implications of the decision not to have children, as well as the interpretation of legal verses and hadiths related to family law in Islam. This research uses a legal social research approach. The Legal Social Research approach combines legal analysis with a social approach to understand the interaction between law and society. In the research "Childfree Phenomenon: Case Study at PT Jeja Bangun Sinergi," The results of the research show that the understanding and views of legal husband and wife couples in marriage at PT. Jeja Bangun Synergy about the childfree phenomenon is very diverse and influenced by various factors, including economic, health and personal. From the perspective of Islam, it contradicts the primary purpose of marriage, which is to continue the lineage and contribute to the welfare of the ummah. The decision not to have children without a valid shar’i reason can undermine the essence of marriage as an act of worship and social responsibility. A decline in birth rates due to the childfree trend can weaken the social structure and the sustainability of the Muslim generation, which is a vital asset to Islamic civilization. In Islam, children are considered a trust from Allah, serving as a source of happiness, an investment in the hereafter, and a valuable social asset. Therefore, Muslim couples are encouraged to consider the broader impact of this decision, consult with scholars, and prioritize Islamic values in every choice they make.
