Abstract

ABSTRACTThe rapid growth of motor vehicles in Bekasi City significantly impactstraffic congestion, particularly at the Tugu Perjuangan unsignalizedintersection,located 134 meters from a railway crossing. The closure ofthe railway gate causes an average delay of 4 minutes,with a Level ofService (LOS) categorized as F, indicating near-unstable traffic flow.This study aims to analyze the impact of the railway crossing onintersection performance using the PKJI 2023 method and PTV Vissimsimulation software. Surveys were conducted to collect data on roadgeometry, traffic volume, vehicle speed, and queue lengths on bothweekdays and weekends.The highest vehicle volume recorded was 4,873vehicles per hour during the evening peak. The optimal solution for theTugu Perjuangan unsignalized intersection in Bekasi City is theconstruction of a flyover. Based on the proposed flyover design on JalanKH.Agus Salim at the railway crossing near the Tugu Perjuanganintersection,the traffic volume is expected to decrease from 4,500vehicles per hour to 3,200 vehicles per hour, while the degree ofsaturation will drop from 1.2 to 0.65. The PTV Vissim simulation resultsrecommend the flyover as the primary solution, improving the road'sLOS from F (very poor) to B (good), reducing delays to less than 2minutes, and minimizing queue lengths.This demonstrates that theflyover can significantly reduce congestion and enhance trafficefficiency.Keywords:Unsignalized intersection,Railway crossing,PTV VISSIM
