Abstract

Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP) is a tool that functions to control exhaust gas emissions containing ash particles from coal combustion before being discharged into the atmosphere/air, so that the exhaust gas does not contain particles that can pollute the environment. The working principle of this ESP is to capture the dust from combustion by providing a high electrical voltage dc through a negatively charged electrode so that the dust is negatively charged, then the dust will be attracted and strained on the positively charged collection plate, this produces clean gas that comes out of the chimney. At PT. XYZ has overhauled the heater insulator control system and ESP rapping motor, has been replaced with damaged devices and PLCs that have been discontinued. This is the basis for this research, namely "Analysis of Electrostatic Precipitator Control System Using Modicon TM221 PLC". The results of the timer error test on the rapping motor control were 0.45% in the first cycle error test, 0.5% in the second cycle test, and 0.57% in the third cycle test. In the heater test, the average duty cycle of heater chamber 4 is 38.8%, the average duty cyle of heater chamber 5 is 6%, this shows an abnormal condition due to a small percentage of duty cycle. The average duty cycle of heater chamber 6 is 24.9%.
