Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that teaching practices carried out by teachers tend to still emphasize a teacher-centered approach. This indicates that learning can be further developed to increase active student involvement. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of the Think Pair Share model on the understanding of mathematical concepts among fifth-grade students at SDN Telajung 04 Bekasi. The research method used in this study is an experiment with a quasi-experimental design. The study involves an experimental class and a control class, where the experimental class is treated with the Think Pair Share model and the control class uses the jigsaw model. The analysis techniques used in this study include Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, Hypothesis Test, and N-Gain Test, utilizing data processing software IBM Statistics SPSS version 30. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The understanding of mathematical concepts among fifth-grade students at SDN Telajung 04 using the Think Pair Share model in the experimental class has an average score of 86.40, whereas the average score before the implementation of the learning was 72.50. This indicates an average improvement of 13.9. 2) The understanding of mathematical concepts among fifth-grade students at SDN Telajung 04 using the jigsaw model in the control class has an average score of 81.30, where the average score before the learning implementation was 71.43. This shows an average improvement of 9.87. 3) There is an effect of the Think Pair Share model on the understanding of mathematical concepts among fifth-grade students at SDN Telajung 04 in Bekasi District, with a significance value (2-tailed) of < 0.030, which is less than (<0.05).
