Abstract
ABSTRACT: THE PRINCIPAL'S STRATEGY IN ENHANCING THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE MERDEKA CURRICULUM CONCEPT THROUGH THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT OFFICE (PMO) AT SMP ISLAM PB. SUDIRMAN BEKASI SAIFUDIN NPM: 41189901220024 Master's Program Student of Islamic Education Management abduhsaepudin@gmail.com This study explores the principal's strategy in enhancing the understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum concept through the Project Management Office (PMO) at SMP Islam PB. Sudirman Bekasi. The implementation of PMO at this school provides space for innovation in improving teachers' understanding of the Merdeka Curriculum. PMO also facilitates professional development and training for teachers, ensuring they always have the latest skills and knowledge needed to teach effectively. Although many studies discuss the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, few highlight the use of PMO as a strategic tool at the junior high school level. Most of the literature focuses on pedagogical aspects and curriculum adaptation, but there is limited exploration of managerial approaches like PMO in the educational context. This study aims to fill this gap by exploring how PMO can systematically support the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in the school environment. Qualitative data analysis techniques are used, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing or verification. The validity of the data is checked through source, technique, and time triangulation. The results of the study indicate that the principal's strategy in using PMO involves a systematic approach consisting of planning, implementation, and evaluation. PMO plays a crucial role in coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, ensuring that teachers understand and apply the curriculum well. PMO uses a data-driven approach to evaluate the success of the program and identify areas for improvement. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for practitioners and policymakers in the context of implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as offer recommendations to improve the quality and competitiveness of education in Indonesia.
