Abstract

This research focuses on violence during dating among students. Violence during dating is interesting to reveal, because it increases every year, especially among students. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between insecure attachment and difficulties in emotional regulation regarding dating violence among studentsi. This research is a quantitative study, a sample of 182 students, the sampling techniqueused was purposive sampling, the dating violence instrument used a scale from Murray (2007) with a validity value of 0.94, reliability value of 0.958. The Insecure attachment instrument uses a scale from Bartholomew (1990) with a validity value of 0.75-0.88, reliability value of 0.908. Emotional regulation difficulties use the Gratz & Roemer (2004) scale with a validity value of 0.94, reliability value of 0.956. Data analysis uses multiple regression tests. Hypothesis testing using Spearman's Rank correlation produced the following findings: in the first hypothesis a significant relationship was found between insecure attachment and violence in dating (r=591, p=0.000 (p< 0.05)). The second hypothesis found a significant relationship between emotional regulation difficulties and dating violence (r=313, p=0.000 (p<0.05)). In the third hypothesis, the results found F=100.213 with a significance of 0.000 (p<0.05) that violence in dating is influenced by insecure attachment and difficulties in emotional regulation by 52.8%, while 47.2% is influenced by other factors.
