Abstract

This research is motivated by students' low descriptive essay writing skills, which are characterized by problems in using vocabulary, lack of ideas, and less interesting learning media. This research aims to provide an overview of the application of series picture learning media to descriptive essay writing skills in elementary school students. . This research method uses Systematic Literature Review (SLR) with data collection techniques that include problem identification, data search, screening, extraction and review. This data and information comes from journal articles obtained from organized data collections via Google Scholar. This research analyzes 12 journals published over 3 years The use of this media has a significant positive impact on students' ability to write descriptions, both in terms of mastery of vocabulary, use of punctuation marks, and neatness of writing. Research conducted on students in grades IV and V showed a significant increase in learning outcomes after using serial image media. For example, the average value in the experimental class shows a significant increase compared to the control class. The results of the t-test and paired sample T-test also indicated that the use of serial image media had a significant positive impact on students' descriptive essay writing skills. Several things analyzed in this research include: 1) Year of publication, 2) Research media, 3) Based on class level, namely low class and high class. According to the results of the analysis of 12 journals that have been researched, the use of series of image media can improve the ability to write descriptive essays in Indonesian language learning.
