Abstract

Instagram is the second most used by the younger generation. The phenomenon of anxiety, worry, anxiety, fear of other people's judgments make individuals try to look perfect and maintain the image shown through Instagram accounts. This study examines the relationship and influence friendship intimacy and social anxiety self-disclosure with social anxiety in college students who use the second Instagram account. This study uses quantitative methods with interviews and psychological scales involving 370 students of Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi who actively use the second Instagram account with simple random sampling. The scales used, namely the intimate friendship scale (α = 0.77), revised self-disclosure scale (α = 0.74). Cyber social anxiety scale (α=0.887) and real life social anxiety scale (α=0.890). The results of this study indicate that there is a significant negative relationship between friendship intimacy with cyber social anxiety (r) = -0.240; p < 0.000; friendship intimacy with real life social anxiety (r) = -0.198; p < 0.000; friendship intimacy with total social anxiety (r) = -0.229; p < 0.000. There is a moderately strong significant negative relationship between self openness and cyber social anxiety (r) = -0.596; p < 0.000; self openness with real life social anxiety (r) = -0.536; p < 0.000; self openness with total social anxiety (r) = -0.591; p < 0.000.
