Abstract

Nur Adelin. 41182911200071. TEACHER PERSONALITY COMPETENCE FROM IMAM NAWAWI'S PERSPECTIVE IN THE BOOK ADABUL ALIM WAL MUTA'ALLIM. Islamic Religious Education Study Programme. Islamic University 45 Bekasi. (1445 H/2024 M). (109) [ number from cover to dapus ] This study aims to analyse the teacher's personality competence in Imam Nawawi's perspective in the Book of Adabul Alim Wal Muta'allim. This research uses qualitative method with descriptive research type and content analysis approach. Then, the research source used is through document analysis in the form of the book Adabul Alim Wal Muta'allim as the main source. While secondary sources used in this research are journals or books that are in accordance with the focus of discussion in this research. The result of this research is that Imam Nawawi in his book does not directly mention what the personality competence of a teacher is, but the Imam mentions some manners that must be possessed by a teacher, where from this manners, there are several personality competencies that must be possessed by a teacher. This is in accordance with the theory proposed by Albert Bandura, that one can learn about manners by observing others. There are three important sub-chapters that discuss the manners of a teacher in the book Adabul Alim Wal Muta'allim. namely the manners of the teacher towards himself, the manners of the teacher when studying and his scientific activities, and the manners of the teacher when teaching. From these three sub-chapters, Imam Nawawi mentions the personality competencies that must be possessed by a teacher, namely (1) The purpose of teaching is only intended for Allah, not to get worldly pleasure, (2) A teacher must have good character and avoid bad traits such as heart disease, (3) Teachers should never stop learning and must be serious in every scientific activity, (4) Teachers must care about the condition of their students, as for themselves, (5) when teaching must wear clean clothes and sit with full authority. The conclusion of this study shows that the personality competence mentioned by Imam Nawawi is still relevant to contemporary Islamic education. Therefore, the personality of a teacher proposed by Imam Nawawi is expected to make a significant contribution in improving the quality and quantity of teachers, so that teachers can become figures worthy of emulation.
