This Scientific Writing (KTI) is entitled "The Role of the Pair Check Model to Improve Understanding of Elementary School Students' Mathematical Concepts". Mathematics is a lesson that requires concentration of thought to remember and recognize the material being studied so that students must be able to master the concept of the material. The success of mastering the initial concepts of mathematics in students opens the way in the delivery of mathematical concepts in the next material. Based on the study of journals, it was found that students' understanding of concepts in Mathematics was still relatively low. This can be seen from the number of students whose understanding of concepts in Mathematics subjects is still below the KKM compared to those who exceed the KKM only slightly. The low understanding of students' concepts is due to the fact that many students are less interested in Mathematics and think that Mathematics is a difficult and boring subject. Then the teacher still uses conventional learning models or lectures, has not applied innovative learning models in learning in the classroom, so that learning is more centered on the teacher and students only listen and record what is conveyed by the teacher. These problems can be overcome by using the Pair Check learning model. The Pair Check learning model is a group learning model between two people or in pairs that applies cooperative learning that demands students' independence and ability to solve problems. Students can solve problems working in pairs. Predicted results that will be obtained from the application of the Pair Check model are able to increase the understanding of concepts in mathematics subjects with several indicators of understanding concepts. 1 Classify objects according to their properties, 2 Give examples of concepts, 3 Provide concepts in various forms of mathematical representation, 4 Develop necessary and sufficient conditions for a concept, 5 Use and utilize, choose certain procedures and apply concepts.
