Abstract
This scientific paper (KTI) is entitled "Snowball Throwing Model as a Solution to Improve Social Studies Learning Outcomes on Natural Appearance and Social Conditions of Neighboring Countries for Elementary School Students". Social Studies is a subject that requires more understanding. More understanding is needed to understand the social studies learning material presented in each student manual. Understanding Learning Outcomes is an important subject in learning because it is very useful for students as a basis in the framework of thinking to formulate learning principles and theories, so students are asked to be more active in carrying out learning activities. Based on the results of studies from several journals, it was found that student learning outcomes in social studies subjects were still low. Where, the results of the average value of students in social studies subjects who get scores according to the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) are still not comprehensive, this happens because of the teacher's inaccuracy in choosing learning models so that students find it difficult to understand the material, and there are still students who passive or lacking confidence in learning activities and lack of mastery of the material being taught. These problems can be overcome by using a Snowball Throwing type of cooperative learning model. Where, the Snowball Throwing model is a variant of the group discussion method with game elements, and students are faced with problems that must be solved in groups, so that they are able to direct students to be active, practice cooperation and responsibility in groups and motivate in groups. Prediction of results using the Snowball Throwing model of students is believed to be able to improve social studies learning outcomes in 3 indicator domains, namely: cognitive (knowledge), affective (attitude), psychomotor (skills). Suggestions for readers in carrying out social studies learning with the Snowball Throwing model to be done well and during game activities it must be clear what is given. So, this Snowball Throwing model can be used as input for motivation and knowledge to reflect on the causes of low learning outcomes in order to achieve learning objectives and improve student learning outcomes optimally.
