Abstract

ABSTRACT Ayu Amalia. 41182911190156. The Relevance of Islamic Religious Teacher Competencies to the Challenges of 21st Century Education at MTS Miftahul Huda, Bekasi City. Islamic Religious Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Religion, Islamic University 45 Bekasi. This research was conducted to determine the competency of Islamic religious teachers, especially Akidah, Akhlak and Jurisprudence teachers at MTs Miftahul Huda, Bekasi City and the relevance of the competency of Islamic religious teachers to the challenges of 21st century education. This research was motivated by the problem of the large number of incompetent teachers in Indonesia. Meanwhile, in the 21st century, there is a great need for Islamic Religious Education teachers who have pedagogical, professional, social, personality and leadership competencies. Facing the challenges of the 21st century requires teachers who have life and career skills, learning and innovation, as well as technology and information media skills. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection uses observation, interviews and documentation. Based on the data collected, this research shows that the competence of Islamic religious teachers, especially Aqidah Akhlak and Jurisprudence teachers at MTs Miftahul Huda, has fulfilled pedagogical, personality, professional, social and leadership competencies. Teachers meet academic qualifications, namely having taken a bachelor's degree in a major appropriate to the field they teach and having a teacher certificate, the teacher is able to master the class and lead the lesson well and is able to choose the right teaching resources, the teacher acts in accordance with religious and social norms, has a sense of pride, self-confidence and responsibility as a teacher, teachers are also able to interact well with students, fellow teachers, or parents, teachers always attend events held in the school environment and teachers are also able to lead and guide students in religious activities. However, regarding the use of technology in learning or self-development, it can be further improved considering that in the 21st century technological developments are very rapid so it should be utilized optimally.
