Abstract

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a personality disorder that affects the perception of self and others. Low self-motivation often appears, and the Indonesian Borderline Personality Disorder Community (KBPDI) is a place for BPD survivors and their families to gain more understanding about this condition. In addition, KBPDI functions as a safe environment where its members can share experiences and express feelings regarding their life journey as BPD survivors. The aim of this research is to determine the description of the support system in the KBPDI WhatsApp group regarding the self-motivation of its members who have BPD. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews and document analysis. Research shows that KBPDI members on WhatsApp experience positive support in forming self-motivation. Support from fellow members and administrators, in accordance with social support theory, involves emotional, instrumental, informational, appreciation and subjective social aspects. Even though instrumental support is limited, it is still felt to be significant. In the KBPDI online environment, emotional support through writing is considered important to strengthen survivors' motivation. Informational support and rewards provide additional knowledge and motivation. Subjective social support is considered adequate because there is connection and understanding between members, creating a strong atmosphere of mutual support.
