Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of self awareness and empathy on the bystander effect behavior in early adulthood. The subjects in this study were 97 students of Regular A Islamic University "45" Bekasi. This research is a quantitative research that uses a correlational approach. This study uses a selfawareness scale with a Cronbach Alpha reliability value of 0.768 for an empathy scale, a Cronbach Alpha reliability value of 0.795 and a bystander effect behavior scale with a Cronbach Alpha reliability value of 0.822. The data analysis technique used is Spearman rank correlation test and multiple linear regression test. This study found that there was no relationship between self awareness and behavior bystander effect with p = 0.267. While the results of the Spearman rank test between empathy for the behavior of the bystander effect obtained significant results with a p value of 0.000. The results of multiple linear regression test get an f value of 27,055. The coefficient of determination of the correlation (R2) = 0.365 means that self-awareness and empathy provide an effective contribution to the behavior of the bystander effect of 36.5% and from this result that there are still 63.5% influenced by other variables not examined in this study.
