Abstract

The increasing prevalence of dating violence cases among young adults in romantic relationship, where cases of dating violence mostly affect females. In the results of Komnas Perempuan's CATTAHU, it is recorded that there were 422 cases of dating violence, all of which the victims were females. One of the coping strategies that can be used to mitigate the impact of dating violence is forgiveness by the victim towards the perpetrator. Forgiveness is influenced by factors such as self-adjustment and emotional maturity. The purpose of this research was to examine the correlation between self-adjustment and emotional maturity towards the forgiveness of female victims of dating violence. The subjects in this study consisted of 70 female students of Islamic University "45" Bekasi who had experienced or were experiencing dating violence, selected using quota sampling technique. The instruments used in this research were the TRIM-18 scale, as well as a modified scale of self-adjustment and emotional maturity. Data analysis involved the use of the Spearman rank correlation test and multiple regression test. The results of the correlation test indicated that there is a correlation between self-adjustment and forgiveness, with a coefficient of 0.357, Sig. 0.002 (<0.05), emotional maturity and forgiveness showed a correlation coefficient of 0.467, Sig. 0.000 (<0.05). Self-adjustment and emotional maturity contribute 27.1% to forgiveness (R2 = 0.271, F = 12.468, p = 0.000). Keywords: Self-adjustment, emotional maturity, forgiveness, dating violence
