Abstract

This study discusses the comparison of the science of recitation in the Ummi and Qiro'ati method books to find the advantages and disadvantages of the recitation of each of these methods. This study is motivated by the existence of problems that arise in school institutions and the general public, where many students pay less attention to improving the quality of reading the Qur'an, especially in tajwid science, which of course greatly influences the quality of students' reading when reading Al-Qur'an. -Quran. As the formulation of the problem is: (1) How does Ummi and Qiro'ati's method present an understanding of the science of recitation in the student's handbook. (2) What makes the Ummi and Qiro'ati methods the same and what are the differences between the two? (3) What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Ummi and Qiro'ati methods in terms of management and in terms of the rules of tajwid science in the method they apply? The purpose of this study is to correctly describe every tajwid sign in the Qur'an, in addition to examining the content of recitation knowledge written in the Ummi and Qiro'ati method book after studying it the researcher draws a conclusion to find out the differences and similarities as well as the advantages and the deficiencies that exist in the Ummi and Qiro'ati methods, especially in learning the science of recitation which is written in a learning book. This research was carried out in October-August 2022-2023 using a descriptive qualitative research method. Techniques in data collection used are observation and documentation. The data analysis technique used is through three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research and analysis of the discussion, it can be stated that studying the science of recitation is fardhu kifayah and it is obligatory for Muslims to purify the Al-Qur'an from reading errors according to Imam Al-Jazary, so the Ummi and Qiro'ati methods are present as a solution for generations in improving the quality of reading the Qur'an, apart from that the Ummi and Qiro'ati methods have their own way of conveying the form of teaching the Qur'an as well as embedding the concept of recitation in learning books. One of the differences between the two methods lies on the recitation material offered, where the Ummi method does not explain about: 1) Idzhar Syafawi 2) Iqlab 3) and Ikhfa Syafawi, while the Qiro'ati method does not explain about: 1) Tasydid letters, 2) Mad Lazim Kilmi Mutsaqqal, 3) Nun Iwadh, 4) Reading Ana, and 5) Signs of Waqaf and Wasalakan, by making the book of Matan Al-Jazary as the analyzer of the two methods.
