Abstract

The subject of this research is the glocalization carried out by Kojek Rap Betawi on Hip-Hop music which is represented through the video clips of the music. Hip-Hop is a culture originating from the United States that is attached to the values of minorities, and when this culture experiences globalization, a process of cultural hybridization between Hip-Hop culture and local culture will be formed. This study aims to find out how the glocalization process is carried out on Hip-Hop culture through the symbols that appear through Kojek Rap Betawi's music video, namely 'Andai gue Jadi Gubernur', 'Mars Betawi', 'Enjoy Jakarte' and 'Lo Kate Jakarte'. This study uses the observation method to see how the Hip-Hop culture itself experiences glocalization. The results of this study indicate that the process of glocalization of Hip-Hop is divided into two ways, namely locally by representing local phenomena that occur and globally by maintaining the values that Hip-Hop has as a global culture.
