Abstract

The subject of this research is the movie "The Princess Diaries (2001)." Using Visual, Narrative and discourse analysis approaches, the purpose of this study is to analyze and describe how femininity is portrayed through the main character, Mia Thermopolis, conveyed through the film's storyline and visual elements. Additionally, the research analyzes how power influences one's identity construction and how the representation of femininity as women’s identity is constructed in its social and cultural context. The research findings demonstrate that "The Princess Diaries" presents a depiction of femininity, primarily through Mia Thermopolis' transformative journey and the influence of the Queen's power in shaping Mia's identity as she expresses herself as a royal princess.
