Abstract

Listening to music is one way to heal yourself that can provide help to the body and mind to relax physically and mentally, as well as help calm the mind. The type of music studied in this research is Korean Pop (K-Pop) music. K-Pop fans say that this type of music has a positive influence in supporting everryone, especially teenangers who are facing problems. The purpose of this research was to understand how K-Pop music can be used as a form of self healing to improve teenagers mental health. The theory used in this research is phenomenology. This research uses qualitative methods. The results of this research show that K-Pop songs are considered to be one of the self healing media that makes the listeners feel excited and motivated again to keep their spirits up. Today’s generation needs something to love or that makes one feel alive besides psychiatrist and alternative medicines for mental health. The majority of K-Pop music fans assume that they have positve changes in themselves and get the courage to believe in themselves through the K-Pop music they listen to and interpret.
