Abstract

The background of this research is the low reading ability of Indonesian students in elementary school students. The low reading skills of students in beginning reading are caused by several factors, namely students still having difficulty understanding words and sentences, students still reading with spelling and halting, and students' lack of accuracy in voicing writing, pronunciation, and intonation. This is caused by the lack of interest in student learning in using the learning methods provided by the teacher. Synthetic Analytic Structural Method (SAS) as a solution to overcome the low learning outcomes of elementary school students. Because the SAS method is a student-centered method so students can play an active role in learning activities. This method directs students to know the beginning of the learning process and helps curiosity through various experiments, experiences and observations so that students can better understand and remember the knowledge gained, thus developing their own reading skills. The method used in this research is Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by analyzing the results of research that has been done, which is related to the Synthetic Structural Analytic (SAS) method to improve elementary school students' beginning reading skills. The sample analysis in this study used 10 published journals spanning the last 10 years, namely from 2012 to 2022, in which there were 6 journals using CAR research methods and 4 journals using experimental research methods. Based on the findings of the analysis, there are differences in the results in the application of the Synthetic Structural Analytical (SAS) method, namely differences in the steps. This can improve elementary school learning outcomes, which are viewed from various aspects, namely: 1). Based on the journal area, 2). Based on the year the journal was published, 3). Based on the research method, 4). Based on the use of Synthetic Structural Analytical methods with the help of media and without using media. The results of the study show that the application of the SAS method can improve students' initial reading skills because it will make it easier for students to master reading fluentl.
