Abstract

ABSTRACT Inefficient manual waste sorting, waste management that relies on manual sorting by waste management officers is often inefficient and time-consuming. This process can lead to sorting errors and reduce effectiveness in the recycling process. This research aims to improve efficiency and sustainability in waste management and facilitate a better recycling process. The method used is with IoT (Internet Of Things) through the ThingSpeak application, data received from the trash can is processed and analyzed to sort and classify waste into metal or non-metal. The results of this study show that the use of smart bins for metal and non-metal waste sorting is based IoT (Internet Of Things) with the ThingSpeak application is able to increase efficiency in waste management. This system enables more effective waste segregation, speeds up the recycling process, and reduces environmental pollution. This research makes an important contribution to the development of smarter and more sustainable waste management technologies. This IOT (Internet OF Things)-based smart trash can prototype tool has been successful and able to sort metal and non-metal waste automatically and has also succeeded in sending notifications to HP (Mobile) if the metal and metal waste box is full, namely by using the IoT Thingspeak platform for real-time monitoring and data analysis of waste volume information. The application of smart bins can be used as a basis for improving waste management systems in various environments, such as schools, offices, libraries, and campuses.
