Abstract

Globalization affects every sector of life, causing a multidimensional crisis, one of which is in the field of high school education. Many graduates and students who are still in school have brilliant achievements but their morals and morals are not in line with the goals of education. Lack of courtesy to parents, acts of violence and crime, promiscuity, low tolerance and mutual respect and so on. This is where the importance of character education, character education must be implemented and then integrated into school life, both in the context of learning in the classroom and outside the classroom. Therefore, a character education model is needed to create a school in which there is learning about character education. With this character education model, it is hoped that it can realize the school's goals of developing basic potential, improving behavior and attitudes, and strengthening student behavior. Based on the background of the problems above, the formulation of the problem in this study is how is character education at SMAN 1 South Tambun. The purpose of this study was to find out about the character education model at SMAN 1 South Tambun. While the benefits are as input and suggestions in improving the quality and quality of character education in high schools, especially aspects of student morals or character and can educate and foster students so that they are accustomed to good behavior and courtesy in everyday life. The method used in this study is a qualitative field research. Data analysis was carried out using four techniques, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study stated that character education at SMAN 1 South Tambun conforms to the applicable curriculum and uses the rationale of Ki Hajar Dewantara. The model applied is the integrity model, where the implementation of character education is integrated into each subject and the supplementary model is carried out through activities outside of class hours such as extracurriculars.
