Abstract

The subject of this research is Joji's music video. Music videos are usually used to provide visuals to reinforce the story in the lyrics or show a different story apart from the lyrics in a music. Using cultural analysis, this study aims to describe the patterns of masculinity, popularity, and gender in Joji's hip-hop music videos. This study uses observation methods for various perspectives on masculinity, popularity, and gender in Joji's music videos. The results of this study indicate that Joji's hip-hop music video has a different meaning from other hip-hop music videos and Joji is a form of postmodernity. Therefore, this makes Joji have its own meaning in bringing elements that are often shown in hip-hop music videos in general. Keywords: Gender, Hip-Hop, Joji, Masculinity, Music Video, Popularity
