Abstract

This study examined the mediating role of self-control in the relationship between smartphone use intensity and bedtime procrastination among university students. A quantitative non-experimental correlational mediation design was conducted with 196 active students of Universitas Islam 45 Bekasi selected through quota sampling. Data were analyzed using Spearman's rho correlation and PROCESS Hayes Model 4 mediation analysis. The results showed that smartphone use intensity was positively associated with bedtime procrastination (r = 0.353, p < 0.05), negatively affected self-control (b = -0.332, p < 0.05), and self-control negatively affected bedtime procrastination (b = -0.345, p < 0.05). Self-control partially mediated the relationship between smartphone use intensity and bedtime procrastination (indirect effect = 0.111; BootCI: 0.025–0.218).
