Abstract

The phenomenon of declining marriage rates in Indonesia in recent years indicates a shift in mindset and unpreparedness of young adults in commitment. Unpreparedness in building a household risks triggering internal conflict and even early divorce in the community. The urgency of this research is based on the importance of preparing a solid psychological foundation and environment for individuals before entering the marriage stage. This study aims to determine the effect of emotional maturity and social support on marriage readiness in young adult students. The research subjects were final semester students aged 20–25 years at the Islamic University 45 Bekasi. Sampling used a probability sampling method with a Simple Random Sampling technique. The data collection method used a questionnaire with three psychological scale instruments, namely the Emotional Maturity Scale, the Social Support Scale, and the Marriage Readiness Scale. The sample in this study was 327 respondents. The research instrument has reliability: emotional maturity scale (α = 0.847), social support (α = 0.717), marriage readiness (α = 0.782). The results show that emotional maturity and social support have a significant influence on readiness for marriage (F=57.756, p < 0.000).
