Abstract
Stainless steel 304 is a stainless steel that has the advantage of high resistance to corrosion with good ductility at relatively low temperatures. These advantages make Stainless Steel 304 widely used in the automotive industry, piping systems, and industries that have contact with chemicals, so that welding on stainless steel is strongly influenced by heat or the welding atmosphere. The use of stainless steel in welding construction can be done by several welding methods, one of which is Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW). One of the studies carried out was to obtain standard WPS parameters when facing 304 Stainless steel pipe welding which was carried out using the Gas Tungsten Arc Welding GTAW method. Furthermore, to prove its validity, a Tensile strength test was carried out, analyzing the variation of the welding joint current to see the value of the tensile strength after being carried out in the welding process, after the welding process using a current variation of 75 A, 85 A and 95 A. In this study, the quality of the welding results was seen by mechanical testing, namely by testing the tensile strength using the ASME Sect test standard. IX The results of the tensile strength test with the highest value with variations in currents of 75 A, 85 A and 95 A are at 85 A which has a Tensile Strength value of 763.70 MPa, Yield Stregth of 433.45 MPa, Elongation of 8.11%. Based on these results, the average welding quality can be categorized as good because the welding process is also in accordance with the Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
