Abstract

The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has encouraged the implementation of automation systems in various fields, one of which is the smart home concept. A smart home allows users to control and monitor electronic devices within a house remotely through an internet network. However, the direct implementation of smart home systems on a real residential scale requires relatively high costs. Therefore, a miniature smart home is needed as a learning medium and prototype. This final project focuses on the design and development of an IoT-based smart home miniature with electronic device control through a website. The system uses an ESP32 microcontroller as the main controller, which is connected to several hardware components such as DHT11 temperature and humidity sensors, relay modules, LED lamps, a servo motor, and a solenoid door lock. A Laravel-based website is used as the monitoring and control interface, while data communication is carried out using MQTT and HTTP REST API protocols. MQTT is utilized for real-time device control through a locally running Mosquitto broker, while HTTP is used to transmit sensor data to the server and store it in the database. The results show that the system is capable of monitoring temperature and humidity in real time and controlling electronic devices such as lights, fans, and automatic doors through the website dashboard. In addition, the system is equipped with an automatic door locking feature and sensor data logging for historical records. The developed smart home miniature can be used as a learning medium and as a prototype for the application of IoT technology in home automation systems.
