Abstract

Ade Wijaya. 41182911190101. “The Moral Education Values in the Novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih by Habiburrahman El Shirazy.” Islamic Education Study Program, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Islamic University ‘45’ Bekasi. This research is motivated by the urgent need for moral education in the present era, where moral decline is increasingly widespread, especially among the younger generation. This can be observed from various cases of moral deviation, such as bullying, promiscuity, misuse of technology, and illegal drug abuse. The novel Ketika Cinta Bertasbih was chosen as the object of study because it contains strong moral messages and has the potential to serve as a medium for teaching moral values such as honesty, patience, hard work, reliance on God (tawakal), as well as various forms of commendable and blameworthy conduct. This study focuses on five categories of moral values, namely morals toward God, family, fellow human beings, oneself, and morals madzmumah (blameworthy morals). This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach and content analysis to uncover the moral values contained in the novel. The data were obtained through an in-depth reading of the novel, noting sections that present moral values, and supporting them with relevant literature. The findings show that the novel is rich in moral education values that are highly relevant to shaping the character of the younger generation in the modern era. In addition to promoting commendable morals (morals mahmudah) such as gratitude, patience, discipline, humility, and helpfulness, the novel also portrays examples of blameworthy morals (morals madzmumah) such as gossip and excessive self-indulgence, which should be avoided. These findings affirm that literary works can serve as an effective alternative medium for Islamic moral education.
