Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of low reading comprehension skills in students in Indonesian subjects in grade IV of SDN Jaka Mulya I. The problems are: 1. Students have not been able to find the main idea based on the text read, 2. Students have difficulty understanding the content of the story in capturing the meaning of words or expressions in the story that has been read, 3. Students are not able to distinguish between fact sentences and opinion sentences, 4. Students have not been able to give conclusions in the content of the story. In overcoming these problems, the Cooperative, Integrated, Reading and Composition (CIRC) model was applied which aims to improve the reading comprehension skills of grade IV students at SDN Jaka Mulya I. The research method used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which consists of 2 cycles, with 32 students and in each cycle consists of 2 meetings. Data collection in this study uses written test data collection techniques. The success criteria in this study are 80% with a KKM score of 75. The results of this study show that the improvement of reading comprehension skills is 59% in the first cycle with an average score of 73 and in the second cycle classical completeness increases to 94% with an average score of 88. Based on this data, the CIRC learning model can increase reading comprehension skills in grade IV by 35%. Thus, it can be concluded that the learning model (Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition) of CIRC can improve reading comprehension skills in Indonesian Language Class IV SDN Jaka Mulya I.
