Abstract

Miftahul Jannah NPM 41182911210054 The Role of Islamic Religious Education Teachers in Building Religious Moderation Attitudes at SMAN 1 Tambun Selatan, Islamic Religious Education, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Islamic University 45 Bekasi, (2025 M / 1447 H). Religious moderation is a crucial issue in education, particularly in secondary schools, where it fosters character development for the younger generation. This study aims to describe the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in instilling religious moderation at SMA Negeri 1 Tambun Selatan and identify the obstacles faced in its implementation. The study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Subjects included Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed inductively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers serve as educators, mentors, role models, and motivators in internalizing the values of tawassuth (the middle path), tasamuh (tolerance), and i'tidal (justice). Implementation is carried out through learning activities, fostering moderate attitudes, and modeling behavior in daily school life. Student responses are generally positive, characterized by mutual respect and openness to differences. However, teachers still face challenges such as limited time, low literacy on religious moderation, and external environmental influences. In conclusion, the role of Islamic Religious Education teachers at SMA Negeri 1 Tambun Selatan is very strategic in shaping students' moderate character, although its effectiveness still needs to be improved through support from facilities, teacher training, and collaboration between the school, parents, and the community.
