Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the thoughts of Hasan Langgulung in responding to contemporary issues in Islamic Religious Education (PAI), particularly within the context of globalization and the evolving social challenges of the modern era. In today’s digital and globalized world, PAI faces complex issues such as radicalism, moral degradation, identity crises, and the infiltration of external values that conflict with Islamic teachings. Through a qualitative-descriptive approach and literature review, this research reveals that Hasan Langgulung offers a holistic and integrative concept of Islamic education. His approach emphasizes not only theological-formal aspects but also the balanced development of students' spiritual, intellectual, and moral dimensions. Hasan Langgulung highlights the importance of integrating religious and secular sciences, as well as designing curricula that are relevant to the needs of the times. His thoughts remain highly relevant to the contemporary challenges of PAI, especially in fostering a generation of Muslims who are moderate, tolerant, and adaptive to change. This research recommends utilizing Hasan Langgulung’s educational philosophy as a reference for policy formulation, teaching methods, and curriculum development in Islamic education to ensure it remains responsive to global issues.
