Abstract
Ida Nurhayati, 41182911210005. “The Contribution of Islamic Religious Education in Shaping Honest Character at the Sekar Street Children School, South Jakarta.” Departement of Islamic Religious Education, Faculty of Islamic Studies, Islamic University 45 Bekasi. This research aims to determine the contribution of Islamic Religious Education in shaping the character of honesty among street children at Sekar Street Children School in South Jakarta, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. The research focus is directed toward how Islamic Religious Education plays a role in instilling the value of honesty in students and the factors that influence its success. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, with primary sources from teachers and students, and secondary sources in the form of relevant literature. Data analysis was conducted through the processes of transcription, reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results indicate that Islamic Religious Education at Sekar Street Children School contributes significantly to fostering honest attitudes. This contribution is evident through the habituation of children to speak truthfully, the courage to admit mistakes, and the ability to maintain trust. This process is supported by the consistent exemplary behavior of teachers and religious activities such as memorizing prayers and practicing worship. Memorization and worship activities do not merely teach texts or movements but also instill discipline, responsibility, and authenticity of self. For example, children learn to recite prayers through their own efforts without cheating, or perform worship according to the correct procedures, thereby training the value of honesty in real-life practice. Thus, these activities serve as a means of internalizing the value of honesty in daily life. Supporting factors include the commitment of teachers and the learning environment, while the obstacles consist of family background, limited educational personnel, minimal facilities, short learning time, and influences from the external environment. Therefore, Islamic Religious Education is proven to play an important role in the formation of honest character among street children.
