Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of fatherless conditions on the level of self-confidence in adolescent boys and to identify the role of self-concept in this relationship. The research employed a non-experimental quantitative approach with purposive sampling. The subjects were adolescent boys who experienced fatherlessness. Data were collected using psychological measurement scales, with validity scores for each variable at 0.937 and reliability scores of 0.923 for self-confidence (Y), 0.976 for fatherlessness (X1), and 0.930 for self-concept (X2). Correlation test results showed a significant negative relationship between fatherlessness and self-confidence (r = -0.340; p < 0.001), and a significant positive relationship between self-concept and self-confidence (r = 0.424; p = 0.001). Regression analysis revealed that fatherlessness had a significant negative effect on self-confidence (β = -0.252; F = 35.329; p = 0.001), while self-concept had a significant positive effect (β = 0.528; F = 48.080; p = 0.001). In conclusion, both fatherlessness and self-concept significantly influence the level of self-confidence in adolescent boys.
