Abstract

This research is motivated by the rise of online gambling, particularly slot games, and its impact on communication dynamics within families. This study aims to describe the interpersonal communication of married couples involved in online gambling. The method used was descriptive qualitative, incorporating the theory of Interpersonal Deception. The results indicate a communication pattern dominated by lies, conflict avoidance, and decreased openness between partners. The impact is the emergence of disharmony in the household, triggered by economic and psychological problems caused by gambling. This leads to disharmony in the household, rifts in trust, and psychological impacts such as stress and anxiety. Nevertheless, some couples strive to improve communication through openness, emotional management, and efforts to stop gambling to maintain the integrity of the household.
