Abstract

Education dynamics on madrasah aliyah students compel them to be confident on their abilities to face their life problems, encouraging them to apply planning and strategies in their learning process to achieve optimal learning results. This phenomenon emerges in one of the school, which is Madrasah Aliyah Swasta Annida Al-Islamy RB. This research aims to prove correlations between self-efficacy and adversity quotient with metacognitive awareness at this school. This research utilises quantitative approach with correlational method. The subject is the student population of Xth and XIth grades at MAS Annida Al-Islamy RB (N=66). The data is extracted by Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI), Self-Efficacy Scale, and Adversity Response Profile (ARP). The results of validity test shows that by experts’ judgement, each instruments have Aiken’s V scores of 0,94; 0,91; 0,85 respectively. The results of reliability test shows that each instruments have Cronbach’s Alpha scores of 0,965; 0,812; 0,718 respectively. Data analyses are done by using Pearson Product Moment correlational test and simple linear regression test. The research shows that self-efficacy has a positive and weak, but significant correlation with metacognitive awareness (r = 0,333; p = 0,006 (p < 0,05). Adversity quotient does not have a correlation with metacognitive awareness (r = 0,036; p = 0,776 (p > 0,05). As the results, self-efficacy correlates significantly with metacognitive awareness, adversity quotient does not correlate with metacognitive awareness, and both self-efficacy and adversity quotient does not have a significant correlation with metacognitive awareness among madrasah aliyah swasta students.
