Abstract
This study examines the role of guidance and counseling teachers in addressing academic stress in high school students. This research is based on the fact that many high school students experience academic stress at school due to mounting assignments and parental demands. School guidance and counseling programs help high school students overcome both academic and non-academic problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the role of guidance and counseling teachers in addressing academic stress in high school students through school counseling programs. The method used in this study was a qualitative descriptive method with symbolic interaction theory. The results indicate that verbal and nonverbal communication techniques influence students' openness to counseling, which can shape a positive self-concept using elements of the mind, self, and society.
