Abstract

Students' ecological awareness in the modern era is still low, characterized by high littering, lack of understanding of waste management, and low concern for environmental conservation around schools. This study intends to examine the application of the Pancaniti learning model in the subject of Islamic Religious Education in improving ecological awareness, The method used in this study is a qualitative method, to reveal descriptive data from information by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation located at SMPN 1 Maniis Purwakarta. The results of this study show that the Pancaniti learning model is a model with the philosophy of Sundanese education which has five stages in learning, namely niti harti, niti surti, niti evidence, niti bakti, and niti sajati. In its implementation, students are invited to actively observe the conditions of the surrounding environment, discuss and design ecological solutions based on Islamic religious values, then take real actions such as making organic fertilizers or managing school waste. The stages are designed to foster comprehensive ecological understanding, empathy, and responsibility. The results of the development show that there is an increase in students' ability to formulate and carry out environmental actions that are relevant to the values of Islamic Religious Education and the local context. Furthermore, this study concludes that the Pancaniti learning model applied in PAI shows a significant increase in increasing students' ecological awareness both in terms of cognitive (ecological understanding), affective (caring attitude), and psychomotor (real action in protecting the environment). This approach integrates Islamic values and local wisdom as a meaningful medium of environmental education. The researcher recommends that this model be used as an alternative in the Islamic Religious Education curriculum to strengthen the integration of character and ecology education in schools.
