Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology, particularly smartphone use, has significantly influenced adolescents' social behavior. One such impact is phubbing—ignoring others due to excessive smartphone focus. This study aims to examine the influence of smartphone addiction and boredom proneness on phubbing behavior among MTs students in Bekasi. The method used is quantitative correlational with population study techniques. Research instruments included the Phubbing Scale 0,882, Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS) 0,828, and Short Boredom Proneness Scale (SBPS) 0,828. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression. The results show that smartphone addiction to phubbing shows a regression coefficient value of β = 0.070 with a significance level of p = 0.000, and the effect of boredom proneness on phubbing obtained significant results with a value of β = 0.122 and p = 0.000, smartphone addiction and boredom proneness have a significant effect on phubbing, with a contribution of 84% (R² = 0.845; F = 286.961; p < 0.000). Thus, Ha3 is accepted and Ho3 is rejected.
