Abstract

Environmental degradation is a critical issue in modern life, reflected in various forms of art, including music. The song “Tarian Penghancur Raya” by .Feast presents a critique of nature’s exploitation through symbolic lyrics. This study aims to reveal the meaning and representation of environmental damage in the lyrics using Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic approach. A semiotic qualitative method was used, with syntagmatic and paradigmatic analysis. Primary data were drawn from the lyrics and in-depth interviews with two informants; secondary data came from literature studies. The findings show that the lyrics contain signs that represent nature’s suffering caused by human actions, with word choices that form irony and socio-ecological criticism. The study concludes that music serves not only as an artistic medium but also as a reflective tool to raise ecological awareness and build a narrative of social criticism toward environmental crises.
