Abstract

ABSTRACT A jack is a mechanical tool used to lift a vehicle, typically when changing a tire or performing undercarriage repairs. Among vehicle users, especially private drivers, time efficiency and ease of use are important considerations when choosing a jack. Manual jacks tend to require more. Based on this background, a comparative study is needed between manual and electric jacks to determine their respective advantages in terms of efficiency (time and effort) and performance (lifting capacity, safety, and practicality). The objectives of this study are: (1) To analyze the gear ratio comparison between electric and manual jacks. (2) To analyze the torque comparison between electric and manual jacks. Research Methodology Stages Literature Study Collecting and studying references related to electric screw jacks and seeking information on technology, design, and previous research. Test results show that the greater the angle between the support arm and the screw shaft, the smaller the torque required to rotate the screw shaft on the jack. For example, at an angle of 60° with the torque value required for a load of 290 kg is 0.016 N.m, 302.5 kg is 0.017 N.m and when lifting a load of 386.25 kg is 0.018 N.m. 1. The torque value required by an electric screw jack to lift a load of 290 kg is 0.051 N.m, 302.5 kg is 0.053 N.m and at a load of 386.25 kg is 0.068 N.m. 2. While the torque value required by an electric screw jack to lift a load of 290 kg is 3.38 N.m, 302.5 kg is 3.53 N.m and at a load of 386.25 kg is 4.51 N.m. 3. In the gearbox design that has been carried out, it is known that the ratio of input and output torque is 1: 66.03.
