Abstract

This study aims to analyze the results of using gamification methods to enhance the ability to produce present tense sentences in a language learning community. The use of gamification methods in this study represents an innovative approach that is effective in increasing student engagement, ability, and active participation through the incorporation of game elements. This study uses a quasi-experimental employed with a pre-experimental one-group pre-test post- test approach. In this study, Duolingo was chosen as one of the gamification media used by the research participants. The present tense used in this study is the simple present tense. The data in this study used student writings, questionnaires, and interview transcripts that discussed participant perceptions. The data used were student writing, questionnaires, and interview transcripts that examined participants' perceptions. The data revealed an increase in participants' sentence production skills and positive perceptions of the features and characteristics of gamification.
