Abstract

Adolescent girls are vulnerable to body dissatisfaction due to physical changes and the influence of social media such as Instagram. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-compassion and social support with body dissatisfaction among adolescent girls in Bekasi City. The method used is quantitative, with 165 respondents selected through simple random sampling. The instruments were questionnaires on the variables of self-compassion, social support, and body dissatisfaction. The analysis showed that most respondents were in the moderate category. Correlation tests showed a significant positive relationship between self-compassion and body dissatisfaction (r = 0.191; p = 0.014), and a significant negative relationship between social support and body dissatisfaction (r = -0.212; p = 0.006). Regression analysis revealed that both variables significantly influenced body dissatisfaction (F = 9.798; p = 0.001). These findings emphasize the importance of social support and strengthening self-compassion in shaping a positive body image in adolescents.
