Abstract
This research is motivated by fifth grade students who have not been able to solve story problems properly and correctly. The use of learning models for fifth grade students is also less varied and still centered on the teacher. This study aims to determine the differences in the use of Problem Based Learning and Cooperative Integrated Reading And Composition learning models on the ability to solve story problems of fifth grade students at SDN Rawamangun 07 Pagi. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with a Quasi-experimental design in the form of a pretest-posttest control group design. Class VA as the first experimental class was given the PBL model treatment, while class VB as the second experimental class used the CIRC model. The data collection technique used a descriptive test. The analysis technique in this study used the Normality test, Homogeneity Test, Hypothesis Test, and N-Gain Analysis with the help of a data processing application, namely IBM SPSS Version 25. The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference between the ability to solve mathematical story problems of students who used the PBL model and students who used the CIRC model. The PBL model gave better results than the CIRC model in improving the ability to solve mathematical story problems. This is proven by the results of the Hypothesis test of 0.017 <0.05 and the N-Gain test which shows the average value in experimental class I is 42.61% while experimental class II is 61.57%. Based on the interpretation category of the effectiveness of N-Gain in experimental class I, it is stated as less effective because it is included in the percentage of 40-55. Meanwhile, in experimental class II, it is stated as quite effective because it is included in the percentage of 56-75.
