Abstract
The development of manufacturing technology has shifted the manual machining process with automatic machining, especially in large-scale industries that emphasize production speed and precision. Milling machines, especially in the end milling process, are the main focus in this research. Machining process parameters such as spindle rotation speed, cutting speed, cutting depth, feeding speed, gear feeding motion, and cutting time have a key role in producing quality products. This study aims to determine the effect of feeding depth on milling machines on the surface roughness of ASTM A36 steel. The method used was experimental and used variations at a feeding speed of 42 mm/min. get significantly different surface roughness values. The smallest surface roughness value was 2,377 μm at a feeding speed of 42 mm/min, while the largest surface roughness value was 3,834 μm at feeding speed 42 mm/min. The results showed that at the dect of cut of 0.75 mm, 1 mm and 1.25 mm, the surface roughness values were significantly different. The smallest surface roughness value was 2.377 μm at a dept of cut of 0.75 mm, while the largest surface roughness value was 3.834 μm at a dept of cut of 1.25 mm.
