Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the factors influencing capital structure in food and beverage sub-sector companies. The dependent variable is capital structure, measured using the debt-to-equity ratio (DER). The independent variables include profitability, measured by return on assets (ROA); firm size, measured by size; and sales growth, measured by sales growth. The research method used in this study is a quantitative approach, processed using the EViews 12 software. The sample consists of food and beverage sub-sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2020–2023 period. The sampling technique applied is purposive sampling, with a total of 26 companies. The data source for this research is secondary data from annual financial reports obtained from the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data analysis techniques used in this study include descriptive statistics, classical assumption tests, research model testing, panel data regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and the coefficient of determination (R²) test. The model testing results indicate that the best panel data estimation model is the random effect model (REM). The findings of this study show that profitability has a significant effect on capital structure, while firm size and sales growth do not influence capital structure.
