Abstract

Aluminum is a material that is easy to shape, lightweight, and resistant to corrosion but has a fairly low hardness value, combining two composite materials with different properties creates a composite material whose properties and characteristics are different from the original material. The mixing of materials in this research is done by stir method, this method will make the mixture more homogeneous. Tests to analyze the Al & SiC alloy were carried out Brinell hardness test and metallographic structure testing. From the results of Brinell hardness testing, the highest hardness value is obtained in mixing with the stir method of 41 HBW and from the results of metallographic structure testing on materials with the stir method, Al & SiC materials are more homogeneous and evenly distributed, thus strengthening the alloy structure.
